Jungle Trekking and Fishing Villages

Hey all,

we are writing to you right now from a small fishing village in Phang Nga, home of "James Bond" Island and the famous Phang Nga Marine Park. We are the ONLY tourist in the little village it seems, but it's quite interesting. All the houses are on stilts above the ocean, over looking a limestone cliff. Very beautiful! We are staying one night and then we are off to tour the area by boat and canoe tomorrow where we can do some swimming and picture taking.

Yesterday we were in the Jungle!! We stayed at Ko Sok National park in a little jungle hut, equipt with mosquito netting and a small bathroom. We stayed three nights, had one day where we trekked through the jungle, walking for 15kms in TOTAL!! We saw some monkey's, spiders and fish, lots of waterfalls and swam a lot! It was great. Yesterday we did a boat tour of the lake in the park. It's 165 sq, kms large and it was incredibly beautiful. We had a guided trek through the rainforest and then we walked, in our bathing suits, through a cave in the limestone cliffs. It was INCREDIBLE. we all had flashlights and head laps and had to walk very carefully through the water so as not to trip over all the rocks. but it was beautiful! We had such a great time, and we were there with a family from Britain and a couple from Germany. We all ate New Years Dinner together and chatted before a well deserved sleep after such a long day.

We are having a great time, spending more money than we both thought we would, but it's all part of the experience. We love you all and miss you lots. We've been hoping to get to a phone but the time difference is 12 hours so it makes for calling difficult. We will shortly. We hope to be in a beachy spot called Railay shortly,, and stay for a few days where we will hopefully be able to get some laundry done and relax on the beach for a few days. We love you all, send New Year wishes for everyone and send our love over the ocean and through the clouds!!

Love and hugs!
